Happy pink weekend

How often have you said something you wish you could take back? I'm sure we all have.  .
It seems there is a lot of that in my family on what my sister Kathi should and should not do since her car accident.  My brother and sister  who live in Ohio are her caregivers for now and they seem to be in constant disagreement..  I have been on the phone many times trying to calm one or the other..I guess that's what the oldest does..try to keep the peace like when we were young.

My daughter when she was young talked so much we said she had word spills. She opened her mouth and flow the words did..not mean but silly little things.

As for my sister Kathi, she is doing well.  She has been moved to a health care center just a few miles from our sister and is getting the rehab  she needs for walking and getting her strength back. The place is in the country and I know she is loving the farm animals and duck pond adjacent to the home.
Have a Happy Saturday.....♥

Getting ready here for the last day of Coast Guard festival.  Parade today and fireworks tonight  You can take a tour of the Coast Guard ships or ride the carnival rides and lots of foods from vendors that you draws you in with the aroma. This festival always draws around 300,000 people.. Traffic is terrible.

Yesterday I walked through the art and craft show.. It was elbow to elbow people and it was hard to look and stand for long as you were just carried along with the flow.  I did snap this silly little sculpture as I was leaving.  and the one of the lady with ferns in her head

You can see the Coast Guard ships  and the pleasure craft coming and going into Lake Michigan.  This picture I saved from their web cam..  Below is another that shows that people have saved a spot to watch the fireworks tonight.  I plan on going to my sons who has a good view from his home without going into town.

Hope everyone is staying as cool as they can. Remember to drink plenty of water.

  1. -sigh- I "feel" for the siblings, who are the caregivers. Not a fun job, or one they *signed on for,* as it were. They both must already have their own lives....... And this "surprise," must be very stressful.

Glad Kathi is doing well. Certainly hope she gets her mobility back and can be on her own, again.

Looks like a fun festival. And your way to watch the fireworks, is the best possible way! Imagine the traffic after, with people trying to get home. Eeeek! :-)

  3. Elaine- I am glad you sister is improving. I did send her a card and hope it cheered her day a bit. It is hard to be "involved" when you are so far away...but maybe your part is to act as the sounding board?

Love the Coast Guard days. What fun- Hope you have a wonderful weekend- xo Diana

  4. We all are guilty of speaking when we should keep our mouths shut. I try, but at times, it is hard. Best wishes to you and family.

  9. Elaine,
This is the second festival I've seen today on friend's blogs, and I love festivals! There is something interesting and fun about them. I know what you mean about family. I'm from a family of five, and it's hard for all of us to agree on the same thing. Patience, I guess, and what you said about thinking before opening our mouth is wonderful advice. I will try to remember that.

  10. Lovely post Elaine! I like the words quote. I work with a woman who is being scammed on line! It is so sad and I had to tell someone so I trusted a former co worker! I am just stunned that anyone could be so taken by a stranger! But our former co worker who never got on with this other woman has been a good source to talk with! She has a kind heart so I think the more prayer following Theresa will be the best!

  12. I love the quote about tasting your words before you spit them out. Oh ever so true.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's situation - that had to have been a bad accident to require such detailed healthcare afer-the-fact. I hope she continues to improve every day.

    Take care!
