HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR

I ponder some weeks as what to post in blue.. In the north where it is cold there is not much color about. The light bulb popped into my head and I came up with this for our Blue Monday  with Sally at  http://smilingsally.blogspot.com
and Mary for the showing of  Mosaic Monday. http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/

HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR, - "A topic or a plan that represents a change from what one thought was being talked about or considered. Shakespeare offered the companion saying in 'Twelfth Night' , where Maria is offered a comment on her plans against Malvolio and responds: 'My purpose is, indeed, a horse of that colour.'
One suspects that the image originated in racing where one might have bet on a horse of a certain color only to find that a horse of another color is winning.

Do you see the blue shoes and boots on the pink horse?
Below are some figurines of blue horses that I spotted when I googled blue horses.

I do like horses but have never ridden one or owned one..   I remember as a child that my Dad owned a pair of work  horses. One was white and the other black.. he hitched them to to the plow , wagon and other machinery to do the farming.    Below is a picture of my Dad with the horses . They were named Bill and Charlie...Sidney was my father

This is a picture of my Dad with the horses . They were named Bill and Charlie...Sidney was my father.. It's not the best photo....looks more like a drawing..  Years ago the copy machines did not do as well as today.

This is a horse of our favorite colors... My dad served in World War 2

And finally as my blog title suggested.. A horse of a different color.. Hope you enjoyed my post this Monday

Today embark on an unexpected adventure with a friend.

  4. Hi Elaine, I like your post tonight. Our son has four horses and they ride. Our older two grandsons will be showing their horses this summer. Dad shows some to, but mom says she is just ground support. Have a great day. Hugs from a Missouri Friend

  8. A fun post. As a teenager I was horse crazy and was lucky to have a farm not far away that had riding horses for rent by the hour. Their famous duo, Bonnie and Clyde were a pair of palominos but were well beyond my riding capabilities.
I'll have to keep my eye out for horses of a different colour. As for your Dad and the horses, I'm wondering if a PhotoShop specialist could make the print better for you? We have a store in the mall where I live and that's what they do - take old black and whites, torn, faded photos and make them look like new. Worth a try!

  13. That first picture is fantastic. Last summer my whole family took a 4 hour horse ride through the mountains. All of our horses had different temperments, glad mine was a little calmer than the others. None of our were these beautiful shades.

I am trying to catch up with my blog visits. It has been a long cold week so I know we are going to have lots of winter left!
But everything will be green in the Spring! That is the up side of all this winter snow because the water levels will be high!
Now let me finish catching up with you!
Have a beautiful weekend. Hugs Anne

  18. This is such a wonderful post, Elaine. The first picture is beautiful. And I love the last one with all the different colors of the rainbow. I rode my brother-in-law's horse up in Oregon, and it was a wild one called Lady. It almost bucked me off, but I had fun riding it. Love the picture of your dad with the horses.
