NO MORE HOME COMPANION

I don't know how many of you were aware that last year HOME COMPANION magazine published their last issue. I so loved this magazine with all the decorating tips for home and garden. I always looked forward to browsing through it from cover to cover.

The magazine started to inspire us all years ago. We learned to be creative with our cooking ..decorating and gardening . I imagine the economy might have something to do with it. Add to that the Internet where so much is available at our fingertips. I still will miss it ...maybe she could publish a few books which I'm sure lots of us would buy.

There were pages filled with goodies to buy from Mary Engelbreit's line of merchandise. There were her cute drawings that were so whimsical and delightful.

Other pages were filled with ideas and goodies to purchase

I loved the little cut-out paper dolls. .....not that I would dare cut into one

There were plenty of ideas for beautifying our bedrooms, bathrooms. living areas
and kitchens.
We all were inspired to create lovely flower gardens and there were tips for those of us who have no green thumb.

If any of you still have her wonderful magazines....hold on to them ...they are a treasure to have. I for one will miss the HOME COMPANION

  2. I miss her magazine too. I also miss Creative Homes and a few other decorating magazines that used to inspire me fron front to back.

I love the internet, but sometimes it just feel good to linger over a wonderful magazine.

  4. I read on another blog that the magazine wouldn't be coming out anymore. I've bought several here -- and wondered why I wasn't finding them anymore. They really were filled with so much -- decorating, crafts and creativity, recipes. Lots of fun stuff! I'm gonna dig some out and start going through them again. Hope you are having a great day! Love ya, Tammy

  6. Hi Elaine...
I just hate falling in complete love with a magazine only to have it be pulled from the store shelves...
this has happened to me with 'artists sketchbook' and the Victoria magazine (although they did bring that one back out)...
you get so used to sitting down with a cup of tea and reading, and to have that missing....

well,, I know how you feel...
but I find browsing the blogging universe to be fulfilling as well...it's just not paper and ink....and you can't take it into the bubble bath, right?

    have a nice day
    ciao

  7. Hi, Purvail,
Well it looks like I missed out. I had not seen this magazine. I have always loved Mary Engelbreit and her wonderful designs. I am a retired school teacher, and I used to have some of her bulletin boards that I always loved to put up for my students. Her illustrations were always so sweet! I am going to be on the lookout for some of her magazines even though they are no longer being published. Maybe garage sales or on E-bay. I hope you have a lovely week ahead! Vicki

  10. I miss Home Companion so much! Have you thought of photo copying the paper dolls, and cutting the copied ones up? I have but haven't done it yet. I LOVE paper dolls! You could also frame them.
