A Crafty Friend

I decided not to do my usual pink but to pay tribute to my friend Nancy who is a retired school teacher.. she taught young girls how to sew and cook for many years until schools decided that was not important anymore...so she taught child care, health and family living and other subjects.

After retiring, Nancy does sewing in her home for some extra money.
She is always ready to put a zipper in for you or hem up a pair of pants or even make you a dress. Not to mention making curtains, chair pads and many other things.
The past few years she has done a lot of quilting..in fact she said it is well over one hundred fifty now. She makes everything from baby quilts to queen size..

This blue one is for a grandchild . How nice is this? It would look great in their cabin this winter.

The gift she gave me this year were these two great pot holders. So nice and thick with hand mitt flaps so you can just use one if you like.

A great little snow picture that is hung in my kitchen was a gift.

And last, but not least is baking quick bread in cans as a gift. .Just the right little gift to tuck into a gift basket for Christmas. This is banana bread I made to take to my son and family.

Happy pink Saturday and enjoy the weekend. Give a Hug to a Friend

  3. Nancy is very talented. Did she make your hen quilt in the hallway? You have to give me the recipe for the banana bread in the tin. I have never heard of that before, but they turned out so perfect. I've been saving tin cans and haven' done anything with them yet. So please send instructions and recipe my way. Love ya, Tammy

I also like the idea of baking cakes in a can.

  5. I love the bread baked in the cans! I've heard of that before but have never tried it. Do they come out without much problem? I'm sure you have to grease it well before putting the batter in. :)

  7. HI ELAINE,
THE QUITLS ARE BEAUTIFUL. SHE SURE IS A TALENTED LADY. I REMEMBER ALL THE QUILTS MOM & DAD MADE. JEFF & ALLEN STILL HAVE THERE'S. AND THE MITT'S ARE REALLY PRETTY. HOW MUCH CAKE MIX DID YOU PUT IN THE CAN'S? WHAT A GREAT WAY TO WRAP A BAKED HOMEMADE GIFT.
    LOVE KAY
