What I do when I can't sleep

                         Happy pink Saturday
Sharing a few pictures of my beading that I do when I have trouble sleeping.  Often I ask myself why I do it since my fingers do not work as well as they did many years ago and my eye sight certainly isn't what it once was. ( I will be seventy in another week)   I mutter and grumble when my cord slips and have to redo some of it. An hour of this and believe me my eyes are ready to close.  I still feel like I have accomplished something when I do finish a bracelet.   I think I should have a few more arms so I could show them and it would certainly help with housework.

They are definitely not fancy . There is some many talented jewelry makers out there that do awesome work. My daughter Gwen is fantastic at it.   This is something I do for fun.

I have even tried making some clay beads for the little ones to
string when they visit.

  1. Oh- Your jewelry is lovely. Beading is one thing I have never tried but I have some family in-laws that do beautiful work. I'll bet that does get to your eyes and hands after a while- xo Diana

  4. Your bracelets are very pretty. I have never tried to make jewelry, but I completely understand about not being able to sleep & needing something to do to keep you busy until you tire.
Have a nice weekend and a Happy early Birthday to you!

  5. Elaine, I think your jewelry is grogeous! I have never strung one bead, I am sure I would get all crabby and impatient LOL! You must have great patience!

  6. Hi Elaine, Well I will try again. I lost the first one. It hasn't been my day. The only beading I have done was on ice skating dresses for my daughter when she competed. I usually embroidery some more when I can't sleep. It is my stress reliever. I really like your bracelets. Have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend.

  9. I like the pretty blues and that last batch of bracelets. The clay beads are very cool. Lisa's grandmother continued to quilt into her 90's even when she began to lose her eyesight. I have some white pillowcases that she crocheted a pretty border for. We are in the midst of yet another dust storm. Pajama weather for sure. Hugs, Tammy

  10. Elaine, Your bracelets are very nice. I love your color selections. I would love to try beading sometime; my hands tremble a little but I think I could manage small items. I would have a good time selecting the colors, etc.
The other day in a store, I saw just one long string of beads with a heavy charm on one end. It was being used as a bookmark for a cookbook on a book stand!

  11. YOu may say that your bead work is not fancy. But it certainly is beautiful.

Guess one gets some pretty beads, and cord to string them on, and.................. Puts the beads on the cord!

Know what? You have finally showed me something crafty, which I could do! Me! Amazing! I could do that!

    Thank you!!!!! :-)
