Vintage post card

I have a box of vintage postcards that belonged to my late husbands family.. This is a favorite of mine for Thanksgiving.
This is the back of the card and it is dated 1911 . The penmen ship is not the greatest.

There is a story that goes with the name George Goodburn. I don't know when it was started....many ,many years ago. In fact it must have started back in England or Scotland. The first boy in the family was named George Edward. The next generation of Goodburn"s who had the first boy was to name him Edward George and so on down the line. Believe me it's hard to trace the family history with the names as such.
In the 50"s my brother-in-law Ed and wife was to name the baby George Edward if a boy......but Pauline had twin boys and there was no way she said that they would be named George and Edward...therefore the tradition stopped.. She named them Richard and Thomas.

Enjoy the weekend coming up.....it is a busy time so be safe and well

  2. I DID NOT KNOW THAT PAULINE DIDN'T WANT TO NAME THE TWINS EDWARD OR GEORGE. I DO THINK SOME OF THEIR KIDS SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE HAVE BEEN NAMED AFTER EDDIE. I KNOW ON FACEBOOK, I HAVE AN EDWARD GOODBURN WHO MUST BE A GREAT GRANDSON OF EDDIES, WHO IS MY FRIEND. I WILL HAVE TO JOT HIM A LINE AND ASK HIM IF HE IS A RELATIVE OR NOT.
    LOVE THE OLD POST CARDS.
    LOVE KAY
