Going back forty years for a look at their pinks

Greeting on this pink windy Saturday.. because it was so nasty with rain and wind that I went out today to my favorite thrift store. In the back they have lots of books and old magazines. I tend to gravitate to that area.... I came across this 1970 December issue of House and Garden. What I like about the old magazined is they are larger in size that those we get today..where everything is being down sized. It was full of Christmas ideas so today I am posting some of the pictures from the magazine

They pictured this little table tree with a bouquet of brilliant French silk anemones, with a plume of red velvet ribbon. It does indeed make a lovely tree for a centerpiece

Below is another centerpiece tree

This is a delicate Brazilian Christmas tree, hung with tiny raffia baskets of silk flowers, many velvet streamed bows and a bouquet of silk flowers on top.

The collages above were dome by Gloria Vanderbilt for Home and Garden . They asked her if she would wrap some Christmas presents and she found herself doing five at the same time. They are certainly romantic lookin

I couldn't resist posting this beautiful table settings done for Christmas. It looks so inviting.

Please remember to go by our hostess Ms Beverly and see the list of other pinkies for the day.

Have a wonderful weekend.. Click for larger view

  5. Isn't it amazing that the magazines are downsized but the restaurants have upsized all the food portions. Hope your nite with the grandkids went well. :) Love, T
