Magnificent Rhododendrons for Pink Saturday

One of the places my late husband and I liked to travel to  was the Blue Ridge Mountain in North Carolina. I have a twin sister just seven miles off the  Blue Ridge Parkway. It was always a treat to go this time of the year when the rhododendrons are in bloom
The mountains, fields and roadways are beautiful  and I couldn't resit taking pictures The flowers are in many shades of pink  and some white..They are a hardy plant down there and spring up in the woods and along the roads.  Of course those are the wild variety. My sister has many pink ones from the nursery planted by her home.

From high on the mountain top

A view from along the jutted rocks along the road

My husband and I took many trips through here in the car and on our motorcycle.
After the passing of my husband ...my son made a trip to the Blue Ridge on his motorcycle to spread a few of his Dad's ashes  along the parkway--

    Thankyou for dropping by :)
It is a great site for Vintage clothing of the spactacuar variety! Great eye candy for a quiet evening at home I think.
Best wishes from a bright Autumn day here in OZ!

  5. What a beautiful area to spread some of your husband's ashes. The flowers are gorgeous. I want my ashes thrown off a mountain top with a beautiful view of the city and lake below. I have already shown my children the exact spot. Happy Pink.

  11. Hi Elaine, just found your blog! Happy Pink Saturday..I love Rhododendrons we live in the desert southwest and they won't make it here, but when we were in WA state we had them and they are beautiful. I cannot think of a more beautiful and meaningful place for your sweet husbands ashes than along a beautiful road..have a great day!
