Blue for Lions

Today is blue Monday and I have been absent for while as you can read in previous blog. Today I am showing you a pair of hand painted tennis shoes a friend does for sports teams .. These our for the Detroit Lions and of course she made some for the Tigers.

Its the littles things that makes a different, so treasure it. don’t wait till its gone cause once its gone, it’ll never return .....   that is  when you’ll realize how much you should of appreciated it from the start.

A visit from someone who's been absent

   I have not been on my blog for ever so long.. As many of you knew my sister was in a bad car accident around mid July.  She was transferred to a home for a month after being in the hospital..there she got rehabilitation exercises and this week she was able to come home ...that is she is staying with a sister until she is able to heal more and return to a place of her own and return to her job.  I do want to thank all who sent cards to her. She said they really helped when she had bad days..
             I have been rather lazy this summer when it came to the computer.  I read some and visited children and their families.  We all remember how HOT it was.  ..
working out in the flower garden was unbearable unless you did it in early morning.

                

    Fall is in the air here and the birds are flocking.  I see lots of robins when I visit my friend in the country..his back yard is often filled with them. Time to put away the summer clothes and bring out something warmer.  The outside furniture must be stored in barn as soon as the son visits and time to plant the new tulip bulbs I bought.
 
   There is some other sadness in my life at present. My daughters step- daughter has leukemia.  She is only 34 and has three of the nicest  boys.   She has been in the hospital for a month now. She is getting chemo and a pint of blood now and then..
Lots of heartbreak for the whole family.   The other is my friend Nancy whom I have been friends with for forty years has lung cancer and it is terminal.   I visit her most every day..    Waiting and watching someone you care for is hard...she had hospice come this week and got the paper work started.. makes it seem more real now .

     I will catch up some on reading blogs and I hope my friends have all been well.

How often have you said something you wish you could take back? I'm sure we all have.  .
   It seems there is a lot of that in my family on what my sister Kathi should and should not do since her car accident.  My brother and sister  who live in Ohio are her caregivers for now and they seem to be in constant disagreement..  I have been on the phone many times trying to calm one or the other..I guess that's what the oldest does..try to keep the peace like when we were young.

  My daughter when she was young talked so much we said she had word spills. She opened her mouth and flow the words did..not mean but silly little things.

 As for my sister Kathi, she is doing well.  She has been moved to a health care center just a few miles from our sister and is getting the rehab  she needs for walking and getting her strength back. The place is in the country and I know she is loving the farm animals and duck pond adjacent to the home.

  Getting ready here for the last day of Coast Guard festival.  Parade today and fireworks tonight  You can take a tour of the Coast Guard ships or ride the carnival rides and lots of foods from vendors that you draws you in with the aroma. This festival always draws around 300,000 people.. Traffic is terrible.

Yesterday I walked through the art and craft show.. It was elbow to elbow people and it was hard to look and stand for long as you were just carried along with the flow.  I did snap this silly little sculpture as I was leaving.  and the one of the lady with ferns in her head 

                                 You can see the Coast Guard ships  and the pleasure craft coming and going into Lake Michigan.  This picture I saved from their web cam..  Below is another that shows that people have saved a spot to watch the fireworks tonight.  I plan on going to my sons who has a good view from his home without going into town.

                               

 Hope everyone is staying as cool as they can. Remember to drink plenty of water.

News of the giveaway and more

       Aledia wrote me saying she is giving her gift to her mother who had been in the hospital and said she would like it.. I think that is so sweet of her to let her mother have it...so sweet that I enclosed a few goodies for Aledia herself .    

 I have been dealing with arthritis in my neck on left side which is causing pain in my head and neck..sometime a bit dizzy  ( but then I'm a blonde )  .  It bothers me to sit at computer at times..doing exercises that should help some and a new med.
   Tomorrow I am helping my granddaughter Jasmine with a yard sale..  I hope she does well.
 
     My friend Nancy who has lung cancer has just returned from the hospital after a week's stay where she had a treatment to help her breath better and prevent so much fluid from building up. I am off to visit her this morning.  The chicken wall hanging in my header picture was a gift from Nancy a few years ago.

       For those who sent cards to my sister here is news of my sister Kathi who was in the car accident.. She has been transfered to a health care home that has rehab and will be there four to six weeks depending on how soon she get her strenth back .     Below is what is left of her car.

  On a more cheerful note I am posting this.  My grandson James asked his girlfriend's Dad for his daughter's hand in marriage.. he got the green light and I see a wedding in the future.

    
                  Another few hot days coming our way.. Hope everyone is surving this long hot dry summer.

  A variety of pink and yellow's to show for Ms Beverly's birthday celebration.  A moth called rosy maple ..just the right colors and some orchids and of course a cake to celebrate the special occasion

                while surfing the web. It is a very pretty thing .  I have never seen one.

These stunningly colored bright yellow and pink moths are common. The caterpillar (called the Green-striped Mapleworm) feeds on various species of maple and oak trees.

I also found that there is moth orchids

They call them moth mouth orchids.

 They come in many colors but I found some in pink and yellow.

Monday's trip to Hobby Lobby

 Greeting this blue Monday to all my friends.  I went to hobby Lobby this morning looking for beads and I spotted these blue china figurines while walking to the back

      

 I do like the rooster since I have no blue ones in my collection

  I did get some beads to make another bracelet

I picked out several blue packs this time.

     And can anyone guess what else I found?

 No blue Santa but there is plenty of Christmas decorations up. for you who can't wait to do your Christmas tree ornament shopping.. I do think they are rushing us a bit.

 With the hot weather it's hard to think snow and Santa.

 I wonder if my twin and I ever didn't want to share.... and was thinking this would be the great-granddaughters in a few years also.

                      

                                            I want to say thank you to those who sent cards and prayers to my sister after her car accident. It will be another three to four weeks before she can go home and then she will have to stay with our brother as they have said no stairs and her apartment is on the 2nd floor which means she will have to give it up ..

   it will be a long healing process for her I'm afraid..Bones don't mend as well as when we were younger and i hope you will keep her on your prayer list..

              

 Be sure to let loved ones know you care.

Looking for a few prayers and those who like giveaways

  This week my younger sister Kathi was rear ended while returning from breakfast. She was stopped behind a car waiting to make a left hand turn when this car came over the hill  at about 60 the state patrol estimated and hit her and pushed her into the car in front of her. She was air lifted to a Akron City hospital in Ohio  She has some injuries but is very lucky to be alive.  She had a fractured sternum, lumbar in back and the tibia in leg.. This morning when I talked to her they had found a blotto clot in her leg..she has not bee able to get up yet.  Please say a few prayers for her and if you would like to send a card I have and address.. I say this as she has not much family close and even her  coworkers has not been up or send a card


  This morning I said" Thank You Lord".We got some much needed rain finally.

Tea Cup Tuesday

                    Tea cup Tuesday and a giveaway..  My friend Nancy gave me a set of this transfer china from 1913.  It is in good shape and I love it..even more because Nancy is my best friend and she is suffering from state four lung cancer
        

     
  She knowshow I like to collect chickens and she said this was as close to a chiken she had..It's a quail and it could pass for a bree of chickens.

Hello to all our Blue Monday Friends

             Rainbows and dead grass  
We have been sweltering here in the heat . Temps do not usually get this hot in June and July.. Normal for us in mid 70'or low 80's and this year we have seen 90 or more.   Those blue skies fool you..so cool looking up there but beneath is a different story.
                  Here is a picture taken after a rain in June..notice the rainbow.

IT'S SO HOT in MICHIGAN that------
.....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.

.....the trees are whistling for the dogs
.
.....the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance

.....hot water comes from both taps.

.....you can make sun tea instantly
.
.....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

.....the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly.

.....you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car.

.....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
.....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.

.....you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M
.
.....your biggest motorcycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out
and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?

.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.

.....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one
out and add butter.

.....the cows are giving evaporated milk.

.....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from
laying boiled eggs.


IT'S SO DRY IN MICHIGAN that the Baptists are starting to baptize by

sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are

giving rain checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn
back into water!

 Yes, I have a lot of catching up to do. I have been off my blog for some time.

To those of you who wonder where I've been....there are many things going on at my home. My doctor diagnosed me with trigrminal neuralgia ..I have lots of neck stiffness and some imbalance, due they believe to arthritis .   My dearest friend  had her cancer return and this time it's in her lungs and not treatable.  I have been spending a lot of time with her.  My granddaughter and family have been visiting from Fort Drum where her husband is stationed.
